What is the default market offer and how can a default market offer guide help me compare electricity plans?

A WattWise Team Answered by

The Default Market Offer (DMO) is a reference price set by the Australian Energy Regulator for electricity customers on standing offers in NSW, south-east Queensland and South Australia. A default market offer guide can help you understand the reference price, annual cost estimates and the percentage a retailer’s plan is above or below it. It is not necessarily the cheapest option, so compare estimated usage costs, daily supply charges, discounts and contract conditions. Victoria uses the Victorian Default Offer instead, and your retailer can confirm which benchmark applies to your address.
