The default market offer (DMO) is a government-set price cap for electricity customers on standing offers in New South Wales, south-east Queensland and South Australia. It limits what retailers can charge under these offers and provides a reference price for comparing market deals. It is not always the cheapest option, and your actual bill depends on your usage, tariff and location. Compare plans through the Australian Government’s Energy Made Easy website, or ask your retailer to explain how its offer compares with the DMO.
