What is the Default Market Offer and how can I tell if my electricity plan is cheaper?

The Default Market Offer (DMO) is a price cap and reference point for electricity plans in New South Wales, south-east Queensland and South Australia. It generally applies to standing offers and is shown as the annual reference price, helping you compare other plans as a percentage of the DMO. Your actual bill depends on your usage, tariff, location and discounts, so a plan below the DMO is not automatically cheapest for you. Check your bill and the retailer’s Energy Price Fact Sheet, or compare plans through Energy Made Easy.
