What is the 2026 Default Market Offer and how could it affect my electricity bill?

The 2026–27 Default Market Offer (DMO) is the Australian Energy Regulator’s reference price and maximum standing-offer price for many residential and small business customers in New South Wales, south-east Queensland and South Australia. It applies from 1 July 2026 and varies by location, customer type, tariff and estimated usage. Retailers may offer market plans below the DMO, so the reference price is not necessarily the cheapest option. Check the AER’s official DMO information and your retailer’s fact sheet when comparing plans.
